About this museum
This is a small personal project celebrating the era of beige boxes and the machines that came just before and just after.
The focus is the IBM PC and the compatibles that followed — that broad stretch from 1981 through the end of the '90s when a generation of cream-colored towers quietly took over the working world. The years before are sketched in lightly as context: how we got from the Altair to a market IBM thought worth jumping into. The years after are summarized even more briefly: the long tail of the PC era, the rise of laptops and smartphones, and where consumer computing has gone since.
